In honor of Star Trek’s 50th birthday, that also happens to be on Throwback Thursday, it only seemed appropriate to share something I composed a while back for Star Trek: Alien Domain. Ever since I was in elementary school, I remember watching The Next Generation on TV. The iconic title theme from the show, by Jerry Goldsmith, was common to hear coming from somewhere around the house in the evening, and it’s one of those themes you can’t really forget. Now, as an adult, I occasionally find myself watching reruns of the show, and every time I hear the theme I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia. Now that’s a theme! That’s what every tv/film/game composer strives for. So naturally, when it came to composing the music for Alien Domain, I had to pay tribute to one of the most recognizable themes of all time.
