This is a recording project that has been underway for such a long time, I’m not really even sure when it actually began. This week I finally received the masters of the full album, so here’s 5 seconds of each track to celebrate!

Some may call it a pet or passion project, but after several years of composing music for videogames and film, always writing to a particular scene or ambience and adhering to the clients’ direction, I felt it was time to write some original music for myself! This project was conceived while transcribing a number of Aretha Franklin songs to arrange for jazz combo charts. It became apparent that her Soulful style of vocal arrangement lends itself to horn sections very naturally. So with that initial spark, combined with my love of jazz, funk, and R&B, I composed 8 original tunes into a horn-heavy set that focuses on good grooves and memorable melodies.
